UConn Huskies

Early in the offseason, UConn was part of one of the first marque recruiting battles. It was for Towson sharpshooting transfer Nick Timberlake, who ultimately picked Kansas. Maybe part of the reason why the Big East school lost was because there was too much unknown about how the roster was going to look going forward.

But after the NBA Draft deadline, there’s now more clarity. Starting point guard Tristen Newton elected to come back for a 5th year, while guard/wing Andre Jackson will be going pro. And starting shooting guard Jordan Hawkins is already gone as a projected lottery pick.

Star big man Adama Sanogo is also in the draft but the team has Donovan Clingan back as an already consensus national breakout candidate for next season. And forward Alex Karaban is set to have a nice season as well. UConn also has five-star guard Stephon Castle joining the team as well.

The one thing that the Huskies are missing is a knockdown shooter. And Spencer would be able to slide in and have a large part of the offense. It might not be as large as it could be with the other options but despite losing so much talent, the team still has Final Four potential next season. And that would definitely be true if they can land a quality starter from Rutgers this late in the offseason.
