UConn Huskies
Not only are the top two scorers on the Huskies roster gone (Adama Sanogo and Jordan Hawkins), but the team also loses starting wing and key all-around playmaker, Andre Jackson. Adding Jones would be a completely different element for the team, as he’s the opposite of Jackson in terms of strengths.
But still, unless center Donovan Clingan becomes an elite scorer inside, there’s going to be a need for offense if you’re UConn. Maybe Coach Dan Hurley is the one to unlock the efficiency potential of Jones and he can have a sizeable role. And more importantly, play on a top-tier Big East program instead of one at the bottom.
Xavier Musketeers
Another top-tier Big East program is Xavier, at least since head coach Sean Miller arrived a year ago. They’ve added four transfers, including two guards, Quincy Olivari and Dayvion McKnight. There’s still a need for a wing since Jerome Hunter is the projected starter and he’s not much of an offensive threat.
As of now, only returning forward Zach Freemantle is a proven Big East-level scorer. And Jones already is that so he can certainly come in and be high up in the pecking order. And even if the transfers prove to be more than capable themselves, that would just mean that Jones would be on a legit contending team next season and still likely start.
