Florida Gators

Replacing Kyle Lofton and Trey Bonham in the backcourt when it comes to true ball-handlers has been a struggle. The team did bring in Walter Clayton Jr., a scoring guard from Iona. But he may not be the ideal option to lead a backcourt in the SEC.

The Gators are reportedly in the mix to land Zyon Pullin, a top-tier point guard from UC Riverside. If they land him, then there’s no need for them to look at Johnson. But if they miss out, there’s still a need for a ball-handler in the rotation to make sure the team is good enough in the league. Especially now that they can’t rely on star big Colin Castleton to shoulder the load.

Gonzaga Bulldogs

The Bulldogs found out last week that Malachi Smith, the WCC 6th Man of the Year, is going pro. That leaves a backcourt of Nolan Hickman and Creighton transfer, Ryan Nembhard, along with four-star scoring guard prospect, Dusty Stromer.

There’s a need for one more ball-handler to help replace Smith in the rotation. And Gonzaga is one of the few NCAA Basketball that can compete with his former program (Kansas) when it comes to postseason consistency. He may have to come off the bench but there’s definitely a sizeable for him on a winning program out the gate.
