Texas Longhorns

It doesn’t feel like it considering all of the offseason moves to either bring in transfers or bring back guys on last season’s roster but there are still several open spots available. And now full-time head coach Rodney Terry is looking to add as much talent to the roster as possible.

So far, Texas brought back starting guard Tyrese Hunter, along with adding 23 ppg scoring transfers, Max Abmas, from Oral Roberts. And in one of the more surprising transactions of the offense, former five-star prospect Dillon Mitchell is coming back for his sophomore season. He wasn’t very good as a freshman but his presence eliminates any chance Kaluma could’ve had at playing at the three-spot.

And on paper, that may have been the most likely spot. Dylan Disu is back for a 5th year and looks to be a leading frontcourt option. Texas also landed Virginia transfer Kadin Shedrick, who is a defensive anchor at center. One thing they can do is have Disu start at the five so Kaluma can slide in but I doubt that Shedrick, who left the Cavaliers for maybe that reason, would be too happy.

It’s a spot where the Longhorns should have its starting lineup set but needs more depth pieces. Kaluma is a starter and not looking to be a 4th option once again. And with Abmas and Hunter in the backcourt, that’s what likely would happen.
