NCAA Basketball: Baylor rises, Kentucky falls in latest 2023-24 WTE power rankings

1. Kansas
The national champions in 2022, last season was clearly not as prosperous but was still another great year in Lawrence. Kansas won another Big 12 regular season title before falling short in the NCAA Tournament, falling to Arkansas in the second round in disappointing fashion. They’ll also lose their two top pieces from last year’s team, but Bill Self is not messing around with what Kansas added to the fold this offseason.
Jalen Wilson and Gradey Dick are gone but getting KJ Adams, Dajuan Harris, and Kevin McCullar all back is immense. Most importantly, the Jayhawks landed former Michigan superstar big man Hunter Dickinson to anchor the lineup. He’s not the only notable addition, as the Jayhawks also welcome former Towson wing Nicolas Timberlake, Texas guard Arterio Morris, and 5-star point guard Elmarko Jackson as well.
Not only is Kansas completely loaded with talent but they do still have perhaps the best coach in the nation in Self. Just a year removed from a national championship, this team looks like the team to beat at this point in the offseason. There are still other rumblings and moves to be made, but adding an elite talent like Dickinson among the other additions has just put Kansas over the top. They might be adding another Big 12 title to the trophy case and that might not be the only thing.
There are still five months until actual games will be played in the upcoming college basketball season, but we’ve taken a closer look at the current state of the Top 25 teams in the nation. Were there teams that we left off the list that should’ve been included? Were there others who were ranked too high or too low?
