4. Baylor Bears
The Bears just landed Toledo transfer Rayj Dennis and brought back Jalen Bridges, the starting power forward on the team that averaged roughly the same production offensively. Without all of those scoring guards, look for his numbers to get even better. But after a rough past season on the defensive end, it still does make sense to look at Nkamhoua as a potential target.
Baylor is also after North Dakota State transfer Grant Nelson, who’d be a much better fit at the center position, the biggest team need. They could play Nkamhoua at the five-spot but that wouldn’t go well against the likes of Hunter Dickinson and Jesse Edwards. And while the wing position is also open, incoming five-star prospect Ja’Kobe Walter could take up most of those minutes as well.
3. Memphis Tigers
The Tigers have landed five transfers but yet still have a ton of work to do in the portal. Right now, the only veteran forwards on the roster are Chandler Lawson and Temple transfer, Nick Jordain. Not only would Nkamhoua instantly become the focal point of the frontcourt, but he may end up playing some center position if the team doesn’t land a quality five-man for the rest of the offseason.
Nkamhoua could have a big senior year in the watered-down AAC for another year but there’s also a concern with how the roster will work. Right now, it’s not an NCAA Tournament compared to some of the other options and without a clear lead guard, it could affect how the forward’s production look. And if they land St. John’s wing transfer David Jones, that’ll just cut into his potential usage rating even more.
