Nebraska Cornhuskers

Considering that they were involved with Wilcher in the first go-around, I had to include the Cornhuskers as a potential option. They’re in a better space with coach Fred Hoiberg after finishing around .500 and was the most competitive they’ve been in the Big Ten since he arrived.

There’s also a clear need for a ball-handler to round out the offense. Right now, Nebraska only has Iowa transfer Ahron Ulis as a definite option. Plus, the team is a finalist for Dayton transfer guard, Mike Sharavjamts. If they miss out on him, they should all of their attention on Wilcher and offer him the chance to run the offense as a freshman.

Rutgers Scarlet Knights

Although they didn’t reportedly go after Mgbako, maybe the Scarlet Knights will be more willing to go after this local player. One big change that occurred was guard Cam Spencer entering the portal, now with the UConn Huskies. The team does have UMass transfer Noah Fernandes and returning guard Paul Mulcahy for next year but in order to compete for an NCAA Tournament appearance, will need another playmaking guard.

The team has five-star wing Ace Bailey and potentially five-star combo guard Dylan Harper as part of the 2024 recruiting class. But they can still use another ball-handler such as Wilcher and next to Gavin Griffiths, can create some potent three-guard lineups next season.
