Seton Hall Pirates
Another local option for Wilcher to consider is Seton Hall, which has already benefitted from a de-commitment this offseason. They landed top-60 shooting guard Isaiah Coleman and having another four-star stud to pair with him would set the program up for a bright future as they move on from Al-Amir Dawes and Kadary Richmond.
Compared to what Rutgers is potentially bringing in, the Pirates don’t have any class of 2024 commits. So there’s no concern about a backcourt logjam and Wilcher would have a fairly large role early on. This is a program that has struggled on offense and Coach Shaheen Halloway needs to find some more potent options. This “local” option would help complete a nice turnaround for the program after a very quiet start this offseason.
Texas Longhorns
The Longhorns have its starting backcourt duo of Tyrese Hunter and Max Abmas for next season but there’s next to no depth behind them. They landed former WAC Rookie of the Year Chendall Weaver but he’s unproven at the Big 12 level. So is Wilcher but as a top-50 recruit, there would be higher expectations for him.
There would be around 15-20 mpg off the bench for Wilcher as the 6th Man if he were to pick Texas. And once Abmas leaves (and possibly Hunter too), Wilcher would be able to take over as the lead guard as soon as his sophomore campaign. The team may also be interested in another former commit in Chris Jackson but in case that doesn’t go anywhere, expect them to look at Wilcher too.
