We’ve reached what should be considered the final stages of the NCAA Basketball offseason when it comes to roster building. After the NBA Draft deadline in the past week, many players are officially done in the sport. However, a number have also come back, with a few in the transfer portal.

There are still several prospects, both via the portal and among the remaining available class of 2023 prospects that teams can get, and just about all of them have given programs in the mix for them. Here’s a look at the top remaining battles to watch that’ll impact the 2023-24 campaign.

10. Simeon Wilcher/Chris Johnson – Open recruitments for now

In the past week, we have had a pair of top-60 combo guards in the 2023 recruiting class become free agents. The first was Johnson, a 6’4 playmaker from the state of Texas, who had been committed to the Kansas Jayhawks. However, the pickups of Nicolas Timberlake and former five-star recruit Arterio Morris may have forced his hand.

Wilcher had been committed to North Carolina for around two years until Tuesday when he opted to part ways with them. The recent reclassification of five-star guard Eliott Cadeau to join the roster was potentially a factor in that.

Because they’re highly talented, I had to include them in this list. Yet due to how recent their moves are, there are no current recruiting battles to mention with Wilcher and Jackson. But expect things to heat up for both of them in the next couple of weeks.
