Recruiting battle: Memphis vs San Francisco vs Nebraska

Known as “Mongolian Mike”, Sharavjamts is a unique prospect, listed at 6’8 but operates as a combo guard. He had a strong start to his freshman season at Dayton, with several double-digit scoring games. But he struggled the rest of the way and didn’t seem to fit with the overall scheme. After originally entering the NBA Draft, he’s now in the portal.

Sharavjamts originally had a group of five programs in the mix. However, both Pittsburgh and Indiana were cut from there. That leaves Memphis, San Francisco, and Nebraska, a trio of unique options. The Tigers recently landed St. John’s transfer David Jones but while he plays a different position, that’s a player who’s going to take usage from the Dayton transfer if he were to go there. Plus, the status of five-star guard prospect Mikey Williams is still an unknown at the moment as to whether he’ll suit up with them next season.

Nebraska is a team that’s looking for another ball-handler, as Iowa transfer Ahron Ulis is the projected starter but Sharavjamts may honestly be better. And San Francisco lost both of its lead guards (Khalil Shabazz and Tyrell Roberts) and has plenty of room for another guard as well.

It’s a situation where the guard could either play on a bigger stage at the Big Ten level or have a large role and put up some numbers for a WCC program. Both options have their pros and cons but while he’s not on the same level as the top transfer targets, Sharavjamts could end up being a key late offseason pickup.
