1. Money, Money, Money

The prospect of switching conferences would allow UConn to get a piece of the pie of another conference’s revenue sharing, which would likely be the Big 12.

Compared to the Big East and their yearly revenue, the Power 5 greatly outmatch the Big East when it comes to how much money you bring in per year for being in that conference.

In the short term, UConn would most likely lose the units gained by other Big East teams that pay yearly, but in the long term, the prospect of moving conferences greatly outmatches that, they would also be entitled to the units in the future for some legendary basketball programs.

One issue though is that there is a $30 million exit fee from the Big East, but the gain in revenue per year could get to around that same number, so UConn wins either way.

When it comes to television deals, football continues to rule in increasing the number of dollars that come in, and that number remains high whether the Huskies have a good football team or an awful one.

So while there may be some short-term financial loss, in the long term, UConn would profit from a move out of the Big East.
