2. Geography

Speaking of fan travel, the geographical decision could be a very tough adjustment for the community that they have built in Storrs, Connecticut.

People’s whole lives revolve around UConn and their Huskies up there in that village, but those fans are not traveling to Texas multiple times a year to watch them play Big 12 basketball.

And not just basketball, softball, baseball, or volleyball, these fans go out and watch the Huskies play and take over places at times depending on where you go.

Setting the fans aside, the players have to get to the games as well, and this includes all sports, there will be a hefty increase in distance and financial issues with traveling much further out west.

Now they will be a bit used to that with playing Creighton and even Marquette, but it is still a tough adjustment to basically have a Creighton game in all sports, week after week, and have to make sure that travel goes well.

The ACC would be a bit easier considering you are mainly traveling south, but Big 12 coaches have already approved adding the Huskies to that conference, so that is looking more likely hour after hour.

Now we have seen that geography does not matter at all with USC and UCLA being added to the Big Ten, but we have not seen that situation in practice yet, and we will see how they handle having to send out tennis out east as well as basketball.
