Rick Pitino and the Red Storm keep thundering down on recruiting portal and college basketball as Simeon Wilcher has now committed to St. John’s Basketball.

The four-star guard formerly signed to North Carolina, but he now travels a few states up the east coast to bring his talents to Queens, NY.

Wilcher returns closer to home, the former Roselle Catholic star is now the highest-rated high school recruit to commit to St. John’s in over a decade span, and the Red Storm have added quite the player.

For Roselle Catholic, he started all four years and averaged 15.4 points, 5.6 assists, and 4.5 rebounds for the New Jersey powerhouse.

He is a player that plays the point very well and has the ability and athleticism to make an impact from the day he steps onto the campus of St John’s.

Other schools were vying for Wilcher’s ability such as Xavier, Seton Hall, and Indiana, but the decision ended up being the Red Storm.

He immediately becomes St. John’s best recruit in this class for the Johnnies and joins a group that includes transfers RJ Luis, Zuby Ejiofor, Sadiku Ayo, Jordan Dingle, and multiple other three and four stars.

So now, not only has Pitino been winning in the transfer portal, he is making his claim into the recruiting pool just as well.

With this addition, St. John’s furthers itself up the Big East ladder, and Pitino may just have this program back on the map as he promised.

Being able to also pry Wilcher away from other solid Big East programs shows that Pitino is not messing around, and still commands a great deal of respect around the country.

Pitino has pulled off one of the most impressive offseasons in recent memory, it is now up to him along with Wilcher and co to put it together and continue to give St. John’s a newfound hope when it comes to basketball.
