NCAA Basketball: Analyzing key contenders for 5-star C Flory Bidunga
Kansas Jayhawks
It’s been a big offseason in the frontcourt for Kansas, both with positives and negatives. On one hand, the team was able to land arguably the best player in the entire NCAA Basketball transfer portal in Hunter Dickinson. However, as a result, both Ernest Udeh Jr. and Zuby Ejiofor departed. That leaves forward KJ Adams and Santa Clara transfer, Parker Braun.
Dickinson does have an extra covid year available after next season so if he were to use that, Bidunga wouldn’t start at Kansas. But if he were to leave, things would be wide open for the five-star to come in. Of course, that’s probably what Udeh thought before being recruited over and the Jayhawks will always be an option for top transfers.
Kentucky Wildcats
Kentucky just had a recent National Player of the Year, Oscar Tshiebwe. That alone will be a massive selling point for the program in trying to land a big man. But they do already have several, including Ugonna Onyenso and top-5 overall incoming big, Aaron Bradshaw. And they’re also reportedly in the mix for top-50 center Somo Cyril, who is also a reclass candidate.
It’s an interesting scenario because after this rough offseason where they haven’t been able to land any transfers, they could easily go the opposite direction a year from now. And what if Onyenso has a breakout season? There are usually many roster questions with the Wildcats but this time around, there’s no telling what the roster situation will be for Bidunga.
