NCAA Basketball: Analyzing 5 key cotenders for top-25 forward Tyler Betsey
Taking a look towards the 2024 NCAA Basketball recruiting class, Tyler Betsey ranks among the top of the group. He’s a consensus top-25 prospect overall, ranked as either a high-end four-star or five-star recruit, depending on the recruiting services.
Betsey is a 6’8 combo forward out of the state of Connecticut. He’s a versatile offensive threat, capable of making shots from deep, and is a solid defender. This is the type of prospect that very likely will start from Day 1 at his NCAA Basketball stop.
But where will he ultimately end up? Jamie Shaw of on3sports put out an article in the past week, listing the programs that Betsey wants to visit. In fact, he’s recently visited the UConn Huskies. But who else is reportedly in the mix to land him? Here’s a look at how he’d fit with each potential option.
Alabama Crimson Tide
The Tide is coming off an All-American season from Brandon Miller, who could be the second pick in the upcoming NBA Draft. It’s the perfect time possible for a program trying to recruit an elite small forward like Betsey, who does have the offensive game to be a potential focal point.
With incoming four-star wing Mouhamed Dioubate currently hurt, look for Rylan Griffen to take plenty of minutes at the three-spot. He’s a potential draft process but so if reported transfer commit and power forward, Grant Nelson. If they land possible reclass candidate Tyler Stevenson, the minutes’ situation could get interesting. But the frontcourt overall is likely going to have more changes anyways by the time Betsey would arrive.
