Former Seton Hall forward Alexis Yetna is set to be one of the oldest players in NCAA Basketball next season. But where will he ultimately end up?

Among the numerous exits to the NCAA Basketball transfer portal from Seton Hall is Alexis Yetna,  a 6’8 power forward that was part of the 2017 recruiting class. He started his career at South Florida and has been in the sport for six years. However, he missed three full seasons, including all of this past year due to injuries.

Yetna averaged 8.1 ppg and 7.6 rpg in 24 mpg in his lone season at Seton Hall and is a quality rebounder and capable defender when “healthy”. But that’s been the issue, hence why he still remains in the portal. The good news is his recruitment has reportedly heated up, with several options and visits coming.

Here’s a look at the three programs Yetna has been linked with and his potential fit with each of them.

Fairfield Stags

Fairfield went 13-18 last season and was in the bottom half of the MAAC. They also lost their top two frontcourt players, including now-Georgetown transfer, Supreme Cook. The team landed New Mexico transfer Birima Seck but he averaged just 0.9 ppg in two years. This is the option where Yetna would come in and be the star of the team and if he’s healthy, might be a MAAC Player of the Year candidate. Might not be enough to make the team a league contender but he’ll get to put up some gaudy stats in his final year.

Ole Miss Rebels

The Rebels have three incoming freshmen forwards, led by four-star commit, Rashaud Marshall. There are three veterans on the roster as well, including returning starting forward Jaemyn Brakefield and a pair of center transfers. However, there’s a chance that OK State transfer Moussa Cisse will be eligible and 7’5 WKU big man Jamarion Sharp could struggle in the SEC. Yetna would be insurance on the roster but depending on what happens, could end up being in the rotation.

West Virginia Mountaineers

Speaking of “insurance”, that’s what Yetna would be off the bench at this option. The frontcourt starters for West Virginia are clear, with Tre Mitchell and Syracuse transfer Jesse Edwards being the focal points. Right now, the bench includes James Okonkwo, Patrick Suemnick, and Mohamed Wague.

Yetna is a bigger offensive threat than any of those other reserves and for a program that’s clearly in “win now” mode, it makes sense to bolster the roster in any way this late in the offseason. But it’ll be a risk for the veteran forward, as he may only end up with 5-10 mpg off the bench assuming that the starters are fine.
