NCAA Basketball: Analyzing top 7 teams for 4-star wing Caleb Williams

Wings have done well in the Coach Juwan Howard era. The latest is Jett Howard, who after a big freshman campaign, is now a projected first-round NBA Draft pick. The position is fairly open now, with Juwan’s other son Jace Howard joined by Alabama transfer, Nimari Burnett.

The team has struggled to land talent at times but there are also questions as to where the offense will come from after losing the top three scorers. That creates an opportunity for Williams, who can get plenty of playing time out of the gate and play in what has been a friendly offensive system for small forwards.

Syracuse Orange

The Orange has a new head coach for the first time in decades on Adrian Autry and he’s done well so far on the recruiting trail. The program has a pair of four-star commits in the 2024 class in shooting guard Elijah Moore and power forward Donnie Freeman.

What’s interesting about this option is that Syracuse is clearly rebuilding and will be a young roster. But barring multiple departures, there’s going to be a logjam on the wings. Not only do they bring back both Chris Bell and Justin Taylor, but they also added former top 50 guards, Chance Westry and Kyle Cuffe Jr., via the transfer portal. So right now, it’s hard to tell where the pathway for minutes would be for Williams, as well as how good Coach Autry will be leading the program.
