College basketball is a fantastic sport with many intriguing aspects. The NCAA Tournament is obviously the highlight of the season, but there’s plenty of drama during the regular season games as well. There’s plenty of interest in the Transfer Portal, in coaching changes, and in the other bits and bobs that pop up throughout the season.
When it comes down to it, college basketball is all about the athletes. These programs could not exist or be prominent without these student athletes representing their schools. Millions of fans and alumni can only sit on the sidelines as these young men fight for their own dreams, and we’re going to be thinking about that today.
Today is the beginning of a major article series, one that will focus on some of the best players in recent college basketball memory. This series will last for more than two months and will look closely at each conference’s best players from the last ten years. Specifically, each piece will identify and rank the top 25 players from each league since 2013.
The series will include a deep dive into the greatest players from every single current conference beginning with the America East and proceeding somewhat alphabetically until we’ve covered each of the 32 leagues. It’s important to note that in devising these rankings we are only including and studying seasons where these players were in these specific leagues for the last ten years. Someone who transferred to or from an AEC school will only be judged on their time in this conference.
There’s not a lot more to say in the introduction, aside from understanding that Vermont has been the king of America East Basketball in recent years. Several of the programs in the league have been relatively dormant, but today’s list includes nearly everyone from the conference. It’s a difficult task figuring out whom to include, but we’ve done our best to focus on which players were the best for their times in this conference. Let’s get right into our first set of rankings.
