1. Jameel Warney

This is no ordinary 6’8 forward. Warney came from Plainfield, New Jersey and stayed relatively close, playing four years for Steve Pikiell at Stony Brook, originally arriving on campus way back in 2012. Even if we don’t factor in his freshman season, one in which he was named America East Rookie of the Year, there are still plenty of reasons why he tops today’s list.

Warney was everything at Stony Brook. He was their best scorer, their best defender, and an all-around weapon for the Seawolves. He averaged 16.4 points and 11.7 rebounds per game as a junior and had numbers just as impressive as a senior. There are numerous standout performance, but his finest came with a 43-point, 10-rebound effort against Vermont to win the 2016 AEC Tournament, clearly earning the MVP honors for himself. He ended his career on a high note with his only trip to the NCAA Tournament, putting up 23 points in a loss to Kentucky.

A truly unprecedented force on both sides of the ball, Warney was named America East Player of the Year for three consecutive seasons and was also Defensive Player of the Year in his final two campaigns. He led the conference in scoring, rebounding, shotblocking and various offensive and defensive metrics during his career.

Most importantly, he led Stony Brook to the Big Dance for the first time in program history and secured his place as the most successful figure of the past decade in the America East in style.
