Not only does Alabama Basketball get a commitment for top-20 forward prospect Jarin Stevenson but the team will also have him for next season.

It’s been a long offseason when it comes to the frontcourt for Alabama Basketball. They knew they were going to lose forwards Noah Gurley and Noah Clowney to the pro ranks, along with SEC Player of the Year and star freshman wing, Brandon Miller.

Other newsworthy events that went against the program included starting center Charles Bediako unexpectedly staying in the NBA Draft, along with incoming four-star combo forward freshman Mouhamed Dioubate suffering a recent offseason injury. The team did reportedly land star transfer Grant Nelson but reportedly, there are loops to go through before that’s official.

The good news is that the Crimson Tide did bring in a frontcourt player that is set to join the roster next season in Jarin Stevenson. He’s a consensus top-20 prospect in the 2024 class that also made the decision on Wednesday to reclassify and play next season. This is a 6’10 power forward that’s fairly skilled on offense and has a nice offensive game.

Stevenson is a little different than Clowney, who was more of a rebounder and a defender. The strength of Stevenson is his offensive game, mainly his spacing ability from three-point range. Without Miller around, it’s going to be more of a collective effort scoring-wise for the team on offense, and Stevenson, assuming he’s ready to play out the gate, will need to be part of it.

Alabama was able to beat both North Carolina and Virginia for Stevenson’s services, with the Tar Heels being the biggest threat. Ultimately, the ability to reclass and play for a juggernaut offensive program was able to win him out. And assuming that Nelson is also on the roster come the Fall, the Crimson Tide’s frontcourt will be in very good shape for next season.
