NBA Draft Dayton Flyers forward Toumani Camara David Banks-USA TODAY Sports /

Toumani Camara – Dayton  – 6’8, 222 lbs – May 2000

Consensus Ranking: 53

My ranking: 43

I went to see Dayton play twice in Chicago this past winter, mainly for Da’Ron Holmes. But both times, it was Camara who really opened my eyes. He also impressed at the Portsmouth Invitational.

Camara has solid size for a wing, is older but is strong and a springy athlete off two feet. He is incredibly active on both ends, posting impressive rebounding and steal numbers. Like fellow front-court players on this list, Camara seems to find ways to score and impact the game without needing the ball. He moves well laterally, has good hands, and is overall a pretty instinctive player.

The jumper will be a swing skill and likely determine how much value you can derive from him offensively. He shot a career-high 36% from deep last season on 2.4 attempts per game. It’s a bit of a weird push shot, being flung from his shoulder area, but it’s certainly workable.

If he hits enough shots, Camara won’t bog down the spacing in the half-court too much, while his other characteristics should allow him to get on the floor. Camara can be the fifth option offensively, and still make an impact as a high-intensity, junkyard dog forward.
