4. Jaylen Adams

A 6’1 point guard from Baltimore, it’s fair to say that Adams was St. Bonaventure’s most important player of the past decade. An impactful weapon for the Bonnies, he arrived on campus way back in 2014 and was a major presence running the offense for the next four seasons under Mark Schmidt, leading this program to plenty of wins during that time.

Adams was already averaging double-digit points per game as St. Bonaventure’s freshman point guard, but offensive numbers were really impressive later on. He made just under 44% of his 3-pointers in his sophomore and senior seasons, though his junior year had the most impressive numbers: 20.6 points and 6.5 assists per game. St. Bonaventure averaged greater than 21 wins per season with Adams in the lineup and he helped lead them to a Tourney win over UCLA in his senior season.

A three-time First Team All-A-10 player, Adams was the league’s Player of the Year as a senior, concluding a senior season where he really went out on a high note. He was one of the most accurate 3-point shooters that the A-10 has ever seen and also was a solid ball distributor, ranking among the conference’s leaders in assists during his career. He was the star point guard for more than half of Schmidt’s 20-win seasons with St. Bonaventure and exactly the kind of player that every coach wants running the show.
