Atlantic 10 Basketball: Ranking of 25 best players from last decade (2013-23)
By Joey Loose
21. Kyle Lofton
A 6’3 point guard from Hillside, New Jersey, it was quite the basketball journey for Lofton, who spent most of his career at St. Bonaventure. He joined Mark Schmidt’s program back in 2018 and was paramount to its success for the next four years, starting every game he played and leading the offensive attack. Lofton would spend his bonus year at Florida this past season, was not as successful as with the Bonnies.
Lofton wasn’t renowned for his long-range shooting, but he was still a very important offensive weapon, averaging at least 14 points per game in each of his first three collegiate seasons. He actually averaged 6.0 assists per game as a sophomore and was a major factor on both sides of the ball, with decent steals numbers as well. Lofton had a 17-assist game against UMass in his senior season and also helped lead the Bonnies to the NCAA Tournament in 2021 and the NIT semifinals the following year.
One of the A-10’s best point guards in recent memory, Lofton was First Team All-A-10 as both a sophomore and junior and was among the best in scoring and assists. St. Bonaventure had four successful seasons with him leading the show and certainly could’ve used his talents this past season. He’s not the only Bonnie we’ll see on today’s list, but he had a major hand in running things for this program in recent years.
