NCAA Basketball: 8 teams that should target West Virginia transfer Joe Toussaint
Pittsburgh Panthers
The Panthers have been looking for a guard with experience this offseason to pair with the freshmen core of playmakers on the roster that includes Dior Johnson, who didn’t play all of last season. Right now, the starting point guard would be either him and four-star ball-handler, Jaland Lowe.
Pittsburgh has tried to get a guard to this point but outside of Rhode Island two-guard Ishmael Leggett, has struck out. Recent misses include Noah Thomasson and Mike Sharavjamts, who are now at Georgia and San Francisco, respectively. But both were mid-major transfers and also would’ve had questions about whether they can play at the ACC level. Toussaint doesn’t and after torching Pitt this past season, he’d make for a nice addition to the rotation and add needed experience.
Xavier Musketeers
Another program that’s also potentially after Kerr Kriisa is Xavier, who is likely looking for one more proven ball-handler on the roster. They have a pair of former Conference USA stars in Dayvion McKnight and Quincy Olivari, as well as top-100 incoming point guard, Trey Green. Plus, guys like Desmond Claude and Kam Craft are looking for larger roles as well.
Toussaint has more proven production at this level than any of them and it’s not far from a possibility that he would start at Xavier. He’d definitely be part of the rotation and Coach Sean Miller has a nice track record of working and developing all kinds of guards from his days at Arizona and with the Musketeers. If Kriisa doesn’t work out for them, they can always try for Toussaint.
