Early in the NCAA Basketball offseason, Kerr Kriisa was one of the more notable names to enter the transfer portal. The 6’3 point guard from Estonia was a former top-100 prospect in the 2020 class and after not playing much as a freshman, became a full-time starter at Arizona for each of the last two years.

It proved to be two of the better seasons for the Wildcats, winning over 60 games combined and producing two triple-doubles as well. Kriisa is a talented ball-handler and can fill up a stat sheet, averaging 9.9 ppg and 5.1 apg this past season. He has his flaws as well, since Kriisa is a career 36% shooter from the field, though he does make over 35% from three-point range.

In his first recruitment this offseason, the junior guard picked West Virginia to be the starting point guard for next season. However, there’s a chance that Kriisa will never play a minute in a Mountaineer uniform as he’s reportedly entered the transfer portal.

With Bob Huggins being fired a week ago, West Virginia doesn’t have a head coach right now and the coaching search is taking longer than expected. Without any clarity as to what’s going on, players such as Kriisa are leaving. There’s a possibility that he could return based on who gets the job but right now, he’s a free agent.

Here’s a look at the programs that are likely to go after Kriisa and find one last ball-handler to round out their respective roster.
