8. Isaiah Wong

A fringe top-100 prospect back in 2019, Wong would turn into quite the player at Miami for the next four seasons. A 6’3 guard from Piscataway, New Jersey, he would play a major role in the Hurricanes’ historical success at the end of his collegiate career and was an all-around fantastic athlete for the school and the ACC.

Wong was a decent contributor, mostly off the bench as a freshman, but carved out his role by sophomore year, averaging 17.1 points per game in a fantastic campaign. As a junior, he had solid scoring numbers again and helped lead Miami to the first Elite Eight in program history, including a 21-point effort in an upset over Auburn. This past season, Wong averaged 16.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game and led the Hurricanes on their first-ever trip to the Final Four, scoring 27 points against Indiana, one of their three upsets during that run.

The individual numbers were already impressive, but it’s more about his overall contributions as Miami made history in back-to-back seasons. He was not only an All-ACC player for three straight seasons, but Wong was ACC Player of the Year in that senior season. Wong was a fantastic backcourt star for the Hurricanes and was recently drafted with one of the final picks of the 2023 NBA Draft. Any player that can help lead the Hurricanes to these heights certainly deserves this kind of praise.
