One of the older players still in NCAA Basketball is Jahvon Quinerly, who came as a freshman in the 2018 recruiting class. He was a former five-star prospect that signed with Villanova, with plenty of promise. But after limited minutes in his first year, the 6’1 point guard transfer out to Alabama.
After sitting out a year, Quinerly produced 12.9 ppg and 3.2 apg in 25 mpg off the bench, including a career-high 43% from three-point range. He ended up starting the year after, posting career-high numbers of 13.8 ppg and 4.2 apg as the lead guard.
Quinerly went back to being a 6th Man for the Crimson Tide, where his numbers dipped thanks to the likes of Brandon Miller and Jaden Bradley arrives. The 5th-year senior averaged 8.7 ppg and 3.6 apg in a clearly smaller role but did get rewarded with SEC 6th Man of the Year this past season.

Thanks to the extra covid year given by the NCAA, Quinerly still actually has a year left of eligibility. There were several options that he could’ve gone with, including going pro or even returning to what’s a new-look Alabama roster. In the end though, the senior decided that he’ll spend his final season somewhere else.
With Kerr Kriisa back in West Virginia, there aren’t many quality ball-handlers still in the transfer portal. So expect there to be a number of programs in the mix for Quinerly. Here’s an early list of teams that should be involved in the coming days.
