17. Dylan Penn

Penn made the journey from Evansville, Indiana to Bellarmine and had an important role with the Knights. He originally joined the program in 2018 back when it was still in Division II and was still playing a major role two years later when they joined the ASUN. Penn recently spent last season at Vermont, though he did enough in those two seasons in the ASUN to get himself mentioned today.

As a junior, he averaged 12.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.6 assists as a backcourt starter in Bellarmine’s first D1 season. He had a 38-point performance against Central Arkansas as a senior, part of a successful season where he put up 16.6 points and 5.0 assists a game to lead the Knights. He was also instrumental in Bellarmine winning the 2022 ASUN Tournament, though they were ineligible for the Big Dance due to their D1 transition.

Penn certainly was impactful in the America East with Vermont, but you can’t ignore his contributions at Bellarmine. He was First Team All-ASUN as a junior and the ASUN Tournament MVP as a senior. He was among the conference leaders in points, assists, and field goal percentage and played a huge role in the Knights’ first few seasons after their transition. It’s just a shame that Bellarmine wasn’t allowed to play in the 2022 NCAA Tournament.
