ASUN Basketball: Ranking of 25 best players from last decade (2013-23)
By Joey Loose
14. Carter Hendricksen
A 6’7 forward from Lexington, Kentucky, Hendricksen was a key piece for North Florida for the last five seasons, having originally enrolled way back in 2018. He was a bench piece as a freshman and has been a major weapon in the starting lineup ever since, taking advantage of his bonus year from the pandemic to continue playing for the Ospreys.
After minor contributions in year one, Hendricksen averaged 14.9 points and 7.1 rebounds as a sophomore, helping lead North Florida to a 21 wins and the ASUN regular season title. Hendricksen’s numbers were similar, though he missed time in both his junior and senior seasons. Healthy again in year five, he’d average 16.5 points and 6.2 rebounds per game while hitting just under 39% of his 3-pointers. He also had a trio of 30-point efforts, becoming the key to North Florida’s offense.
Hendricksen earned All-ASUN honors three times, including First Team as a junior. He had above-average shooting and scoring numbers and was one of the most useful pieces at North Florida in recent years. Hendricksen was talented and played all over the court for the Ospreys, it’s just a shame that he never got his shot in the NCAA Tournament.
