13. Brett Comer

Comer is a 6’3 guard from Winter Park, Florida who stayed in his home state, playing his entire collegiate career at Florida Gulf Coast. We’re focused on just the events of the last decade, though Comer’s college career began way back in 2011. He was a full-time starter at the point throughout his career, including for the Eagles’ shocking run to the Sweet Sixteen in his sophomore season, but we’re looking beyond that.

As a junior, Comer was an even bigger part of the offense, averaging 13.7 points and 5.3 assists with better shooting numbers than he had earlier in his career. He put up a career-high 30 points in a win against Jacksonville, though the Eagles would fall in the ASUN Tournament. He wouldn’t get back to the Big Dance in his career, but did add several more double-doubles in another efficient senior campaign, one where he was now averaging 7.2 assists a game.

First Team All-ASUN as both a junior and senior, Comer was a major piece of the Sweet Sixteen team and then continued to lead the program in the coming years. He led the conference in assists on three different occasions and was a decent presence on both sides of the ball. Comer helped lead Florida Gulf Coast to a pair of 22-win seasons as an upperclassman and was certainly one of the best point guards of the decade in this league.
