ASUN Basketball: Ranking of 25 best players from last decade (2013-23)
By Joey Loose
11. Damon Lynn
A proficient 5’11 point guard originally from Hillside, New Jersey, Lynn is another talented backcourt weapon who stayed in his home state, playing at NJIT. The Highlanders had very little success before Lynn’s arrival on campus in 2013, but the program did play a bit better with him leading their backcourt for the next four years, including their first two in the ASUN.
A full-time starter as an underclassman, Lynn was already putting up impressive numbers early in his career and that only continued. As a junior, he averaged 18.3 points and 3.3 assists, leading NJIT to a 20-win season in their first year in the league. The team wasn’t as successful the following season, now under new head coach Brian Kennedy, but Lynn still starred, averaging 20.6 points with solid shooting numbers.
Lynn was First Team All-ASUN in NJIT’s first year in the league while also leading the conference in steals. It was quite the hello to their new conference, and he’d earn All-ASUN honors again as a senior. He was a high-level 3-pointer shooter and was one of ASUN’s best free throw shooters as well. Lynn was the offense for NJIT and a major part of their success.
