4. Brandon Goodwin
A talented and explosive guard originally from Norcross, Georgia, Goodwin began his collegiate career back in 2013 at UCF. He played point guard for the Knights, serving as their full-time starter as a sophomore, but decided to transfer after that season. He had a pretty decent season, but found a new home at Florida Gulf Coast, playing under Joe Dooley for his final two seasons leading the Eagles.
Florida Gulf Coast was a pretty great program for much of the last decade and Goodwin was a big reason between 2016 and 2018. In each of those seasons, he averaged at least 18.5 points and 4 assists per game, helping lead the Eagles to 49 total wins. He powered the Eagles to the ASUN Tournament title in 2017 and had a 28-point effort in a first round Tourney loss to Florida State. Most of his numbers were even better as a senior.
Earning First Team All-ASUN honors for both years in the conference is already pretty impressive, but Goodwin was also Tournament MVP as a junior and Player of the Year as a senior. He showed his potential at UCF but really came into being as a top-flight scorer and ball distributor, finishing Top 4 in the conference in points and assists in each season. That trip in 2017 also remains Florida Gulf Coast’s most recent NCAA Tournament appearance.
