Big East Basketball: Ranking of 25 best players from last decade (2013-23)
By Joey Loose
Every passing year shares more moments, stories, and events in the world of sports and especially in the world of college basketball. The NCAA Tournament annually gives us unforgettable memories, no matter which college you support. Even those players or teams that don’t reach postseason glory are remembered for their contributions at colleges both large and small.
Today, we’re continuing to look back at some of those memorable players by continuing our long-running series. This series focuses on the best players from each athletic conference over the last decade. We’re already a few weeks into the series and have recently looked at some pretty successful conferences in the ACC and Big 12, and we’ve got another power conference in our sights today.
Big East Basketball actually reformed one decade ago, and the new version of the conference has been in place since 2013. Adding successful mid-majors Butler, Creighton, and Xavier to some of those old Big East teams has created quite the league, with Villanova doing major damage and other programs like Providence and Seton Hall really coming to life this decade. Recent addition Connecticut has also clearly had its moments in the sun.
This series looks specifically at the best players based on their time in the Big East in the last ten seasons. No seasons outside of the conference or before 2013 will be considered in the rankings of these players. With a league like the Big East, there’s plenty of high-level talent and a seemingly long list of great players won’t be included today. With all of these things in mind, we’ll proceed right into today’s rankings, knowing that some of the best in the nation have played in this conference.
