4. Myles Powell
Not your ordinary backcourt weapon, Powell is a 6’2 guard originally from Trenton, New Jersey. He didn’t stray far from home, playing his college days at Seton Hall and making quite the name for himself. By the time his career had run its course, Powell was certainly one of the most notable Pirates in program history.
He didn’t start right away but did average double figures as a freshman. Those offensive numbers would begin to balloon, increasing to 15.5 points a game as a sophomore and 23.1 points as a junior. He was a scoring machine late in his career for the Pirates, playing in three NCAA Tournaments and scoring a career-high 40 points against Grand Canyon. Powell also averaged more than 20 points as a senior and was one of the country’s most explosive offensive players, all while leading Seton Hall to at least 20 wins in all four seasons on campus.
There was a lot to like about Powell’s game. He was First Team All-Big East for those final two seasons and really reaped the awards as a senior. Powell was named a First Team All-American, Big East Player of the Year, and the winner of the Jerry West Award as the nation’s top shooting guard. While with the Pirates, he was the backbone of their success in the late 2010’s and clearly carved out quite the place in their history, scoring 2,252 career points.
