NCAA Basketball: Top 25 impact transfer pickups from 2023 offseason
By John Makuch
No. 20 TJ Bamba (Villanova)
Kyle Neptune has made some phenomenal moves at Villanova this offseason, and TJ Bamba is one of those transfer great additions the Wildcats will be very excited about.
The 6’5 shooting guard was an All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention for Washington State after averaging 15.8 points per game off 42.6 percent field goal shooting for the Cougars. He now brings his talents to Villanova, which had somewhat of a disappointing season, but has now improved its roster and looks to make a run in the Big East Conference this season.
Bamba shoots the ball well and can make some tough off-balance shots in the paint, he played great against Pac-12 competition, so there is no worry about his potential performance in the Big East with Villanova. Getting Bamba allows Villanova to have depth, while Bamba will get significant time, this team just gets even deeper with the transfers they brought in.
His ability to get inside and get to the line is solid, and he had some great moments last season, including a 36-point effort against the Washington Huskies. Bamba is a guy that can score in bunches and will fit well into this Wildcat offense under Neptune. The expectations continue to rise as Villanova makes their moves, but given their championship history, those expectations will be beyond welcomed for Bamba and the Wildcats.
