No team has been in the spotlight more this offseason than West Virginia Basketball… for both good and bad reasons. It started out as good as possible, with the program landing several quality players from the transfer portal. However, things took a turn for the worst for them.

Head coach Bob Huggins had a pair of high-profile offseason incidents that ultimately ended up costing him his job, including a DUI arrest in the past month. That coaching change put the entire roster in question, as players all had the option to leave, thanks to an extended window period due to the coaching change.

After assistant Josh Eilert was named the interim head coach for the upcoming season, several Mountaineers decided to stick around. They were all the high-profile offseason pickups, including point guard Kerr Kriise and center Jesse Edwards. However, a few players also decided to look elsewhere and enter the portal.

The biggest name that’s gone is Tre Mitchell, last season’s starting power forward that is now at Kentucky. A few role players off the bench also is gone, including Joe Toussaint (Texas Tech) and No Wague (Alabama). Forward James Okonkwo is still available and could possibly come back, though both North Carolina and Texas A&M are also reportedly in the mix. And now, Jose Perez has also recently entered the portal as well.

Right now, there are just eight scholarship players for West Virginia Basketball with not too many options available. Still, there are some that the Mountaineers could be interested in. Here’s a list of 10 players that could play at the Big 12 level.
