Big Ten Basketball: Ranking of 25 best players from last decade (2013-23)
By Joey Loose
College basketball is the sport that always gives. It’s also a sport that takes away, and it’s important to remember that. The sport is full of moments and memories and stories, some that’ll never be told and others that are revered in every household. The most prominent memories are made in the NCAA Tournament, with the thrill of a game-winning shot the ultimate give and take in the sport. Either way, memories are made.
We’re not talking about buzzer-beaters today; we’re talking more about recent players in the sport. Today’s task is the continuation of our latest offseason series, focusing on each conference’s best players from the last decade. This is an all-inclusive series that will break down the recent stars from every league, meaning even the mid-major leagues get their chance to be recognized.
That’s not the focus today, as we’ve got our eyes on Big Ten Basketball. Maryland and Rutgers joined this league in 2014, but aside from that it’s been the same lineup for the whole decade. Programs like Michigan State and Purdue have been elite for much of that time, while teams like Ohio State, Wisconsin, and a few others have certainly shined at times in the decade. Suffice to say, some of the country’s best programs are in this league and there will be some incredible talent recognized today.
Before we start running through those names, let’s just pass on a reminder about this series. This is just about the last ten years, meaning play before 2013 won’t officially be considered in the rankings. Someone who spends time in another league can be included, but those other seasons won’t be considered. This isn’t much of a program for the Big Ten as much as for some of the mid-major leagues, but it’s important to remember how the series works. Let’s get into the talent.
