CAA Basketball: Ranking of 25 best players from last decade (2013-23)
By Joey Loose
2. Nathan Knight
A 6’10 forward from Syracuse, Knight was one of the most impactful frontcourt weapons in recent memory in the CAA. He played four seasons at William & Mary, arriving on campus in 2016 and playing a major role up until the beginning of the pandemic.
Knight showed promise as a freshman and began his ascension into the elite as a sophomore, averaging 18.5 points and 7.3 rebounds per game that season. He was a high-level scorer throughout his collegiate career, scoring 31 points in the CAA Tournament as a sophomore or 39 points against Hofstra as a junior. Helping lead the Tribe to plenty of wins, his senior year saw him average 20.7 points and 10.5 rebounds, becoming the rare player to average a double-double in a 21-win season for William & Mary.
Not only was Knight an impactful scorer and rebounder, he also led the CAA in blocks per game in three of those four seasons. It’s no shocker that he was All-CAA three times and All-Defense three times, but his senior season took the cake. For that final campaign, Knight was named both CAA Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, putting a very impressive bow on the end of a dynamic collegiate career.
