CAA Basketball: Ranking of 25 best players from last decade (2013-23)
By Joey Loose
20. Scott Eatherton
Eatherton is a 6’8 forward from Hershey, Pennsylvania who took an indirect route to the CAA. His college career began at St. Francis PA back in 2010, becoming a pretty dominant frontcourt piece for the Red Flash during his sophomore season. Eatherton opted to transfer, spending his final two seasons at Northeastern and becoming an equally dominant weapon in the CAA.
As a junior, he averaged 15.9 points and 10.2 rebounds, wasting no time getting settled into a new program and new league. He was a decent scorer from all over the court, averaged 1.8 blocks per game, and had a pair of 20-point efforts in the CAA Tournament. As a senior, Northeastern would win that CAA Tournament thanks to a great season from Eatherton, averaging similar numbers for the Huskies. He’d finish his career with an 18-point game against Notre Dame in the NCAA Tournament.
Eatherton went from NEC reserve to CAA star in four years, winning CAA Defensive Player of the Year as a junior and First Team All-CAA honors as a senior. He led the conference in field goal percentage and blocks in both seasons, establishing himself as a major interior presence and rim protector. He even got to end his career in the NCAA Tournament, making quite the smart decision to transfer to Northeastern and the CAA.
