NCAA Basketball: Top 25 impact freshmen classes for 2023-24 season
14. Xavier Musketeers
The Musketeers had lost 3.5 starters this offseason, with Jack Nunge, Adam Kunkel, Souley Boum, and Colby Jones now gone. And technically, it could be four full starters since Jerome Hunter, who started the final half of the season after Zach Freemantle got hurt, is reportedly out indefinitely due to undisclosed medical issues.
Depending on how long Hunter would be out, that gives the opportunity for the two four-star wings to get major playing time. Reid Ducharme is a 6’5 scorer and is viewed as one of the top three-point shooters in the entire class. And Dailyn Swain is a 6’6 playmaker that’s also ranked in the top 100 overall and has an all-around game.
Kachi Nzeh is a three-star center, listed as 6’9 and 220 pounds. He’ll compete with Indiana transfer Logan Duncomb for backup minutes at the five-spot but provides a big body that plays very physical inside.
And the best of the group is another guard as well. Trey Green is a top-50 true point guard that can score at a high level. But he’ll be behind not only Western Kentucky transfer Dayvion McNight but also sophomore guards, Desmond Claude and Kam Craft. He’ll still have a role as a freshman and when it’s all said and done, could be the future star of Xavier Basketball.
