NCAA Basketball: Top 25 impact freshmen classes for 2023-24 season
20. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Last season, Notre Dame was one of the oldest teams in NCAA Basketball. But after head coach Mike Brey retired, the team hired Penn State’s Micah Shrewsberry. At the moment, the ACC program will be one of the youngest in terms of experience, providing an opportunity to the team’s four-man class that came with the coach from the Nittany Lions.
After missing out on Rutgers transfer Paul Mulcahy, Notre Dame is likely to roll with a true freshman to run the offense next season. The question is which will it be? The team has three ball-handlers in the class, including Braeden Shrewsberry, the son of the head coach. He’s more of an off-ball kind of contributor but arguably the best scorer of the group.
Markus Burton and Logan Imes are both three-star prospects, capable of handling the ball. Burton, a 5’10 playmaker and one of the top players from the state of Indiana, is the best passer while Imes is an all-around perimeter that can shoot the ball.
The last player is Carey Booth, a 6’10 forward and son of former NBA player, Calvin Booth. He’s a late riser with legit potential both ways and in a frontcourt that lacks depth, should find his way into the rotation early on.
