19. Paris Bass

Bass is a 6’7 forward from Birmingham, Michigan who joined the Detroit basketball program in 2014. He was an exceptional part of the offense for the Titans across the next two seasons, though he was removed from the team in 2016 following his sophomore season. Regardless, he had some pretty significant contributions in just those two years in the Horizon League.

A talented scorer from the beginning, Bass averaged 12.4 points and 5.7 rebounds as a freshman, including a 28-point performance late in the year against Oakland. He took his game to another level as a sophomore, averaging 18.4 points and 8.0 rebounds a game, including a slew of 20-point performances. His impact as the Titans’ top scorer and rebounder helped lead them back above .500 I his sophomore season.

The Horizon League Rookie of the Year back in 2015, Bass also earned First Team All-Horizon honors in his sophomore season. It’s a shame how his collegiate days would come to an end after just two seasons, but he played a major role in Detroit and in this conference. He developed into one of the best scorers and shot blockers by the end of his time, and that all came as an underclassman. Who knows what could have been had he not struggled with academic issues.
