NCAA Basketball: Analyzing top 6 teams for top-50 forward Robert Miller
Robert Miller is one of the top forwards in the 2024 NCAA Basketball recruiting class. Which programs are after his services?
Another class of 2024 NCAA Basketball prospect has announced their respective list of options this week, as Robert Miller is down to six. He’s a 6’9 forward out of Pasadena, Texas, and is one of the better offensive frontcourt players in the entire class. He can shoot from the outside and is skilled enough to create his own offense for himself and others.
Miller is down to six power conference programs, all of whom can offer him something different. Here’s a look at how he’d fit with each of the reported contenders.
Alabama Crimson Tide
After losing both Noah Gurley and Noah Clowney, Alabama has added North Dakota transfer Grant Nelson, along with five-star freshman forward, Jarin Stevenson. He’s a reclass player so unless he’s a star, Stevenson will be playing multiple years with the Tide. Until we know how good he is on the court, it’s hard to see them landing a 2024 forward looking for early minutes in the rotation.
Arkansas Razorbacks
The frontcourt depth for Arkansas isn’t as daunting, as long as Trevon Brazile goes pro after next season. Had he remained healthy, there’s a good chance he’d already be in the past NBA Draft. The team also will lose Memphis transfer Chandler Lawson and five-star incoming freshman Baye Fall can play the five-spot. Of course, the biggest concern for minutes here, if you’re Miller, isn’t the current roster but rather what Coach Eric Musselman will do in the portal next offseason.
Colorado Buffaloes
One of the teams that have gotten a recent visit from Miller, they’re in need of frontcourt help next season. Star forward Tristan da Silva likely is gone after next season, while five-star freshman wing Cody Williams likely leaves as well. That creates a nice opportunity for someone like Miller to come in and have a large role early on, though how good that team would be is definitely an open-ended question.
LSU Tigers
The power forward options for LSU next season includes seniors Hunter Dean and Daimion Collins, as well as returning forward, Derek Fountain. For a team that finished last in the SEC last season, expect them to try and load up in the 2024 class. Miller is the kind of offensive talent that can have a leading role at LSU and have plenty of playing time to offer.
Oklahoma Sooners
The Sooners recently landed three-star guard Dayton Forsythe for the 2024 class as their first commit. They now need some more help in the frontcourt after losing both Groves brothers. The power forward position is fairly wide open, with Georgia Tech transfer Jalon Moore and Sam Godwin most likely to get minutes next season.
Texas Longhorns
With Dylan Disu having one more year left of eligibility, it’s going to be open at the four-spot a year from now. The team did land transfer Ze’Rik Onyema, who averaged 7.1 ppg and 4.4 rpg at UTEP this past season. Yet he’s more of a depth piece than a long-term starting option for the team. And with them moving to the SEC soon, landing a top-50 prospect like Miller is what they need in order to be competitive.
