Ivy League Basketball: Ranking of 25 best players from last decade (2013-23)
By Joey Loose
There are countless moments in every college basketball season. There are moments that everyone remembers, like the buzzer beaters or the big upsets in the NCAA Tournament. There are player names that are remembered for generations for their talent, skill, and accomplishments, but there are also thousands of players and coaches who fly under the radar, some never getting their chance to shine on the big stage.
In this series, we’re continuing to tell the tales of recent college basketball players, looking closely at the best players of the last decade from each conference. This is an all-inclusive project that will examine those top players from every single conference, and we’ve already covered more than a dozen in the series. Notable leagues like the ACC, Big 12, and Big Ten have had their focus while a few solid mid-major leagues have been our more recent focus.
Today’s attention falls on the Ivy League, which is a largely unique conference. The eight members of this league have been in place for many years and are some of the oldest schools in the nation. A few of these schools had significant success in the early days of the NCAA Tournament, though this is clearly a one-bid league nowadays. The league only added its conference tournament during this past decade, previously sending the regular season champion to the Big Dance. It’s also important to remember that the league’s eight teams all sat out of the 2020-21 season due to the pandemic.
Moving forward, it’s key to remember that this is a series about great Ivy League Basketball Players of the last ten seasons. Players who were around over a decade ago can be included if they’ve played since 2013, though that technically means we only have nine seasons of play to consider. It’s also important to remember that we’re only talking about their success in the Ivy League. A player who transfers to another league won’t be ranked based on their time in that conference. Let’s begin looking at these names from a decade of Ivy League basketball.
