Ivy League Basketball: Ranking of 25 best players from last decade (2013-23)
By Joey Loose
10. Spencer Weisz
Weisz is a 6’4 guard from Florham Park, New Jersey who was along for the ride of some pretty impressive Princeton teams back in the mid-2010’s. Weisz didn’t have far to go from hometown to college and would develop into a major weapon for the Tigers, starting nearly every game between 2013 and 2017 while at Princeton.
Weisz didn’t blow you away with the scoring numbers, but was a major piece for the Tigers for those four seasons. He was a solid shooter and his assist numbers grew with each passing season. He played with the Tigers in the CBI as a freshman and NIT as a junior, but senior year was the breakthrough season. Weisz averaged 10.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game in leading the Tigers to the Ivy League title, with his career ending with a 15-point effort against Notre Dame in the 2017 NCAA Tournament.
After twice being named Second Team All-Ivy, Weisz won Ivy League Player of the Year as a senior, anchoring that run to the tops of the conference. He finished second in the conference in steals and assists and was a major contributor across the board. Few players hit more 3-pointers in the Ivy League this decade and Weisz was just a well-rounded leader, helming Princeton on that impressive season to end his career.
