5. Miye Oni

Oni is a 6’6 wing originally from Northridge, California who turned into quite the impressive player by the end of his career. He was a major part of the equation at Yale from his arrival on campus in 2016, ending things off with a trip to the Big Dance and getting selected in the 2019 NBA Draft.

Already impacting things as a freshman, he’d average 12.9 points and 6.3 rebounds in that first season. Oni showed his talent in those underclassman seasons, but it was his junior year where he and the Bulldogs really shined. Oni averaged 17.1 points and 6.3 rebounds, made 37% of his 3-pointers, and led Yale to the Ivy League Tournament title. He had multiple 30-point games during conference play before LSU ended that junior year in the Big Dance.

Oni was Ivy League Player of the Year in that junior season, which would be his last at Yale before leaving for the professional level. He was one of the league’s top defensive rebounders and scorers, and also sat among the league’s leaders in blocks and free throw shooting. Oni accomplished quite a fair bit before moving on and has played nearly a hundred games in the NBA over the last four seasons.
