Ivy League Basketball: Ranking of 25 best players from last decade (2013-23)
By Joey Loose
3. Tosan Evbuomwan
A 6’7 wing originally from England, Evbuomwan quietly developed into one of the best Ivy League players in recent memory, doing incredible work while at Princeton. He put up minor numbers as a freshman and then was off the court because of the pandemic, but these last two seasons have really shown us his value.
Taking a major step forward as a junior, Evbuomwan averaged 16.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 5.1 assists and led the Tigers to a regular season title in the Ivy League. While the Tigers would settle for an NIT appearance, they wouldn’t have to settle in his senior year. That year saw him put up similar figures and help Princeton become one of the Cinderellas of the 2023 NCAA Tournament, advancing to the Sweet Sixteen as a 15-seed. He even had 24 points against Creighton in their final game.
He was First Team All-Ivy in those last two years, winning Ivy League Player of the Year as a junior and Tournament MVP as a senior. Evbuomwan led the conference in assists in both seasons, was one of the best scorers and rebounders and had impressive shooting numbers as well. Most importantly, he was a major piece of a team that pulled off a pair of unexpected upsets in the Big Dance and is currently a part of the Detroit Pistons organization.
