The college basketball season gives us special moments; there’s no doubt about that. We’re not just talking about those celebrated national champions or the players that take home the big awards or hit the buzzer-beating shots. We’re talking about every moment because there’s intrigue in this sport twelve months a year in nearly every corner of the country. It’s all worth celebrating.

We are continuing what has become quite the massive series by looking at the best players from each conference from the last ten seasons. Even with limiting ourselves to a decade’s hunt, it’s a project that has shone a spotlight on hundreds of intriguing players. Some of them, like the players from the ACC or Big 12, were already basketball stars. Others, like from less-covered mid-major leagues, don’t always get that spotlight.

Our focus today is on the latter, as we turn our attention to the MAAC. It’s a league that’s seen a few changes but has mostly kept its structure in recent memory. It’s also a conference that has been dominated by Iona recently, with the Gaels winning most of the MAAC Basketball Tournaments held in the last decade, though programs like Manhattan, Monmouth, and Siena have had bright spots too. Additionally, we can’t forget the unreal run that Saint Peters’ made all the way to the Elite Eight just sixteen months ago.

With our eyes on the MAAC, let’s remember that we’re just looking at this conference’s best players since 2013. Those who played before then can still be included; we’re just not really considering those seasons in the big picture or in the rankings. Additionally, seasons at other schools outside of the MAAC will be treated in a similar manner. It’s not just Iona; there’s a great collection of talent that’s come through the MAAC in recent years.
