MAAC Basketball: Ranking of 25 best players from last decade (2013-23)
By Joey Loose
23. George Beamon
A 6’4 wing from Roslyn, New York, Beamon’s collegiate career actually began way back in 2009. He spent five years at Manhattan and was only eligible for this decade’s list due to redshirting his senior season, playing just four games before suffering a major injury. Suffice to say, he’d bounce back for the Jaspers during the 2013-14 season.
That redshirt senior season saw Beamon average 18.8 points and 6.5 rebounds, with decent steals and shooting numbers across the board. He had some explosive scoring performances and helped lead Manhattan to a successful season, winning 25 games and the MAAC Tournament title.
Beamon was a dynamic scorer throughout his time with the Jaspers, though that senior season was pretty special. Not only did he claim First Team All-MAAC honors but he was also named the MAAC Tournament MVP for leading his program back to the Big Dance. He was among the league leaders in a number of important categories and was certainly the driving force behind that trip to the NCAA Tournament to finish off his career.
