16. Eugene German

German is a 6’0 combo guard originally from Gary, Indiana who turned into one of the MAC’s best offensive players. He arrived at Northern Illinois back in 2016. Though the Huskies didn’t exactly change the world or make postseason memories during his four seasons in De Kalb, he had plenty of memorable contributions.

He had strong numbers as a freshman, but his career really took off as a sophomore, averaging 20.6 points per game. German would actually surpass 20 points a game in each of his final three seasons with the Huskies, with decent shooting numbers and all-around contributions. He had a number of 30-point outings, including in a junior year MAC Tournament loss to Bowling Green. That junior season saw him hit 41% of his 3-pointers as well.

A rare player to average 20 points a game for three straight seasons, he’d earn All-MAC honors for each of those years. Northern Illinois finished atop the MAC West standings in his senior season, the one year he earned First Team honors in the conference. There were multiple seasons were he topped the league in points and he was a major weapon for Mark Montgomery’s program near the tail end of his head coaching career.
